Since the this century,Chinese New Year wood-block Painting,as a kind of art,has a profound and far-reaching"added value",with the concept of "intangible cultural heritage".Therefrom,the wide-ranged rescue and protection work of "intangible cultural heritage" has been carried out,by related cultural departments and research institutions.Undoubtedly,it is one of the key topics to study the style of Chinese New Year wood-block Painting.On the concept of folk culture,Chinese New Year wood-block painting is the most brilliant one in our myriad and splendid folk arts.The inheritance and innovation of traditional handicraft,which is the attitude to the thought of the current time,and the consensus and responsibility of the Chinese nation,not only benefits the reference and application of contemporary art and other fields,but also has far-reaching significance in the promotion of excellent traditional culture.Now,Chinese Folk Literature and Art Association is busy on applying for a place in the World Intangible Cultural Heritage List for Chinese New Year wood-block painting.There has been some preliminary achievements on related investigating,sorting and research,but in terms of the historical development,regional characteristics and artistic style of Chinese New Year wood-block painting,a intensive study still awaits developing.This paper compares the typical Weifang New Year paintings in the north of China with the Tantou paintings in the south,on regional differences,.folklore features,printing processes,and their themes,lines,colors,etc.It is a subject of considerable academic value and significance,and has constructive value and significance,for the current set-up of "New-Year-painting-logy".This thesis mainly adopts comparative method in the research method,while considering the descriptive method in the meaning of the phenomenology.In specific interpretation,it tries to put forward the possibility hypothesis of a study on New Year painting,with the theories and methods of related subjects,such as culture,anthropology,and art.In other words,it hits the mark-comparative style study,from the aspect of cultural philosophy,art psychology and art.There is a general resemblance between Weifang's New Year paintings and Tantou's in terms of art theory,because their style is the rough,simple,exaggerated one,in the two main styles of New Year paintings.However,they are also different in many ways.When it comes to the broad definition of style,the paintings of Yangjia port in Weifang,Shandong,which is mainly influenced by Confucianism and Qilu culture in geographical culture,may be said "a cultured gentleman",while the ones of Tantou in Longhui,Hunan,as a result of the prevailing witchcraft,and absorbing the essence of Xiang-Chu and Meishan culture,is more like the "elves of the wild".
