| With the development of science and technology,scientific and technical text translation shows its increasing importance.For the large translation companies,the proportion of scientific and technical texts in business transactions holds high.Therefore,it is necessary to study translation methods and strategies for scientific and technical text.This report is based on C-E translation of a scientific and technical text Safety Operation Procedures.The report includes five parts.The first part is introduction,in which the author introduces the background and significance of the task.The second part is task description,in which the author analyzes the feature of the source text and presents the requirements of the entrusting party.The third part is translation process.This part covers pre-translation,while translation and after translation.Pre-translation preparations focus on background information search,translation planning,preparation of translation resources and tools,selection and analysis of parallel texts,selection of translation theories and methods.The while-translation part introduces detailed translation process and revising process.Of the two,the latter includes self-revising and proof-reading by the internship instructor.The fourth part is case analysis,in which the author gives detailed problems during the translation process,especially solutions to technical terms,sentences with no subject and four-character expressions.The fifth part shows author’s reflection on the translation practice,concludes the shortcomings,unresolved issues and thoughts as well as prospects for the future in this translation practice.Through this translation practice,the author understood the characteristics of scientific and technical text,found the basic principles and translation methods of scientific and technical text translation under the guidance of functional equivalence theory.The author also hopes to put them into C-E translation practice of scientific and technical text in the future so as to improve the quality of translation. |
