A Practice Report On The Chinese Translation Of “Procedures Of The Installation Of Industrial Pipeline And Its Safety Application”

Throughout the developing history of Chinese and foreign civilization,translation plays a significant role.Just as the literature translation shapes the national spiritual world,the translation of science and technology promotes the material development and advance of the society.Unlike the literary works which consist of large amount of individualized and aesthetic principles,for scientific and technological literature the functional style conforms to the principle of formal logic when forming the language.Although the laws and method of scientific and technological literature are relatively clear and rigorous in nature,it does not mean there is no complication in this field.The difficulties in scientific translation lie in translation of professional terms.When doing internship in a translation company the author attended an Russian-Chinese translation project named “Procedures of the Installation of industrial pipeline and its safety application”.The project aims at the translation of technical specification text.Combining with concrete examples,he author tries to research on the translation process of this document.This report describes the major translating strategies and methods adopted in the translation process,reveals the problems in translation,so as to provide references for translators when conducting similar translation.Taking the document as example,this report summarizes the possible universal laws of translation for scientific documents,broadening the thinking for theoretical study and translation practice in translating process.
