The Introduction, Interpretation And Acceptance Of Lin Yutang In Japan

For the history of modern Chinese literature,cultural history and exchange between China and foreign countries,Lin Yutang(1895--1976)is absolutely a great figure.A series of his English version of books are best sellers in the world,which has great influence around the world.Japan,an active advocater of Lin Yutang's works,has strong national characteristics while accepting and introducing him and his works,which was because of history and reality.Now the educational circles haven't given the subject a higher degree of concern,without comprehensive,systematic research.This article,in the view of cross-cultural propogation,has a good arrangement,analysis and comparison of Japanese doucment,historical data accepted and translated related to Lin Yutang,induced in time sequence,making an over-all analysis of connotaion and innotation,conflicts and dialogues of Lin Yutang and its works.This thesis can be devided into three parts.Part one analyze Lin Yutang's cognition of Japan and his association with his Japanese friends.First of all,as a pre-condition of cognizing Japan,to confirm its establishment and improvement,then on this basis,studying his idea of Japanese traditional culture,class ideology and social classes,and analyzing his attitude towards Sino-Japanese wars.The writer tries to study Lin's political and cultural attitudes towards Japan from this explicit ideas.Finally,it studies the cross-natioanl friendship between Lin Yutang and Ryoichi Sato,they know each other well because of literature and translation.Part two tells the translation and introduction of Lin Yutang's works in Japan.It's made up of three parts in the time sequence: 1930 to 1940,1950 to 1980 and 1990 s until now.The writer has a detailed booking of his translated version in each period of time and detailed analysis of the translator,has an induction of the features of his works in different period of time,as well as analyze its deep reasons behind his translation.Part three tells the acceptance of Lin Yutang and his works,also divides into three periods:1930 to 1940,1950 to 1980 and 1990 s until now.By analyzing his thesis,book reviews,comments and Lin's Japanese documents that could be found,inducing his acceptive ideas of articles,ideology,literature and his positions,reading its acceptive features of each different period of time and revealing the deep causes of its ideology,literature and society.From the perspective of cross-cultural propogation,the interpretation of Lin Yutang's works in Japan realized his dream of information transmitting to language community.The influence of cultural transmission is to narrow the differences between cultual conception and social regulation between China and Japan.Moreover,the cultural conflicts don't possess the effect of strong assimilation and acculturation,but the short-term effect as well as long-term effect of Lin Yutang's works towards Japanese is obvious.
