In Chinese-English and English-Chinese translation, the processing of attributive components has always been a subject worthy of study. This translation practice report selects the book Brand Logo Design as a translation task. This book, written by Wang Shilong,a famous brand logo designer, objectively and truly presents practical cases of designing brand logos for multiple industries of the author, and thoroughly analyzes and elaborates the brand strategy, market background, creative thinking, and design concepts behind these brand logos. The author selects the entire book as the translated text, with a total of 19,645 words. This text is divided into four chapters. The first chapter summarizes the concept and significance of the brand logo;the second chapter gives a detailed explanation of creative practice of the brand logo design;the third chapter introduces design process and development trends of the brand logo;the last chapter lists the author's 38 practical cases of brand design. The structure of the book is distinct, and the content is original and innovative.Besides, design industry is a popular industry in today's society. Therefore, the author takes this book as a translation practicetext. The book not only has the characteristics of general practical and informative texts, but also has a certain degree of artistic and cultural feature. Therefore, the use of attributives in the text is diverse. This practice report, under the principle of functional equivalence of Eugene A.Nida, selects English translation of Chinese attributives as the main issue of this report.Chinese attributives are often placed before and after the subject or object, and are used to modify or determine nouns and pronouns in sentences. The attributive is a component that exists in both Chinese and English, but the English translation of the attributive component is not an equivalent replacement, which needs careful consideration in terms of content, position, and form. The author divides the problems into three categories, prepositive attributive, postpositive attributive, and long attributive problems, which are mainly solved by literal translation,by being translated into participles or prepositional phrases, infinitives or attributive clauses, and by synthesis methods. The experience and deficiencies in translation practice will be also summarized.
