Translation Of Attributive Clauses In ESP Text From The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence Theory

With the deepening of economic globalization and the rapid development of science and technology,the information exchange in science and technology is much more frequent between China and other countries or organizations,especially in a lot of international exchanges and learning of agricultural science and technology.Giving full play to the advantages of professional and disciplinary specialty,doing accurate and efficient translation of the international agricultural science and technology English text and constantly summarizing related translation methods and skills,this paper may contribute to creating international first-class agricultural university and promoting the communication of agricultural science and technology in the world.Scientific English,including agricultural scientific English,is characterized by textual features.The scientific dissertation sometimes resorts to rather long and complicated sentences containing attributive clauses describing or explaining scientific concepts,principles or experimental process.About attributive and attributive clause,a lot of difference between Chinese and English,which requires the translators not only to the analysis the structure and semantics of attributive clause in the source language,but also to find the proper translation methods to transfer the original information content as much as faithfully,completely,and smoothly as possible.It is easy to find researches and articles about the translation of attributive clause in English text of science and technology,but there is not enough discuss about the translation of attributive clause in English text of agricultural science and technology.Based on Nida's functional equivalence theory,this thesis analyses some examples mostly from my translation work,discusses the translation of attributive clauses in agricultural science and technology texts in the views of structure and semantic and sums up the translation method of attributive clause in the text of the agricultural science and technology.Choosing the proper translation method contributes to conveying faithfully the information of the source language,realizing functional equivalence and promoting the translation of agricultural science and technology texts more smooth,logical,and scientific.
