In the languages of the world,onomatopoeia is one of the characteristics of Japanese language.Onomatopoeia has been widely used in daily conversation,comics,advertising,literature and other fields in Japanese social life,which plays an important role.Onomatopoeia is a kind of words describing the sound,state or human behavior,action state,psychological emotion,and etc.The Japanese language is called “a tune”,and the presence of Japanese onomatopoeia makes it sound musical.On the other hand,Japanese verbs are relatively simple and requires the collocation of the Japanese onomatopoetic words for a better expression of action and state.Moreover,onomatopoeia makes the expression more direct and vivid,facilitating the transmission and communication of information.Japanese onomatopoetic word is indispensable and important in Japanese language.Japanese onomatopoeia enjoys great morphological diversity.Japanese onomatopoeia has strong capacity to derive,composite,and create words.Onomatopoeia can be used as adverbs,descriptive verbs,nouns,it can also derive into derived verbs,derived nouns,derived adjectives,derived descriptive verbs,and derived adverbs,and other new words and semantics.In grammar,the usage of the Japanese onomatopoeia is various.Although it is often introduced as an adverb in the second language acquisition,Japanese onomatopoeia is also common in verbalization.Based on numerous Chinese and Japanese scholars' study about onomatopoeia,the thesis offers a thorough research and case study of the characteristics of word formation and derivation of Japanese onomatopoeia,expecting to help the learners whose native language is not Japanese.
