Research On Habermas's Thought Of The Public Sphere

Jürgen Habermas is one of the outstanding representative figures of the Frankfur school and at the sametime is recognized as "the most influential contemporary thinker".The thought of public sphere still has strong vitality for today's society and deserves our further exploration and study.The first part of the paper starts from the idea of public sphere,which has rich social background and theoretical source.Habermas' s ideas in the public sphere are greatly influenced by Hannah Arendt,and especially on the division of the public and private sphere,which is on this basis that Habermas constantly improves and puts forward his own ideas about public sphere.The second part introduces the theoretical connotation of Habermas' s thought of public sphere.The public sphere is a place where the private members of the public take the initiative to discuss public affairs on the basis of the separation of the state and society,and are free from state interference.Habermas divided the public sphere into three main types according to the historical development process: the ancient Greek public sphere,the representative public sphere,and the bourgeois public domain,focusing on the bourgeoisie public sphere.In the third part,from the perspective of influencing factors,the public nature of the public domain is an important political influence on the law and parliament of the bourgeoisie;The critical and rational spirit of the public sphere promotes the development of social culture.The idea of public domain provides enlightening and research perspective for regulating social contradictions and promoting social development.The fourth part focuses on the evaluation of public domain ideas,the main arguments of Charles Taylor,Nancy Fraser and Seyla Benhabib are used as the main arguments to compare and analyze their different interpretations of Habermas' s public sphere.The value factors in the public domain also have a certain degree of limitations,for example,the marginalization of women's status,the limitation of public domain issues,and the lack of discourse power of subaltern counterpublics in a single public domain.Therefore,the paper regards the influence and evaluation of Habermas' s thought public sphere as the focal points,and tries to evaluate it more objectively and comprehensively.
