The Study On Exhibition Narrative Space Conversion Form From Virtual Reality

The core of virtual reality lies in "immersive experience" and "hypertext".The concept of hypertext originated from the pursuit of inter-connected texts in the information age in the early 1960 s."Hypertext" is a network consisting numerous text nodes that enable the user to hop between texts based on their own logic and intuition."Hypertext thinking" has been using in a large scope – the World Wide Web itself is a typical web-based information structure based on hypertext.When searching information on the Internet,we will first enter a keyword and check up the first text field;then we can find the second keyword which leads us to the next text field.This text is hypertext,and this mode of thinking is hypertext thinking.Through analysis of the behaviour mentioned above: each keyword is a node;these nodes are non-linear,non-hierarchical and systematic.The text field behind each keyword is exactly its corresponding content.To summarize,hypertext is "noded" text;while hypertext thinking is "noded" thinking.Thus,we can make the conclusion that the biggest feature of hypertext is node-link,and the format of hypertext is non-linear form.This non-linear thinking can be applied in the spatial narrative in exhibitions to form a set of the nonlinear narrative system with its own characteristics.The spatial narrative form of the exhibition can be divided into two categories: linear and non-linear,while the non-linear spatial narrative form includes modular space narrative,chapter space narrative and hypertext spatial narrative.The definition of hypertext spatial narrative a system where the narrative subject was divided into several nodes subtly distributed in the exhibition space.Channels were designed to connect those nodes to reach the "bounce" of hypertext;therefore,visitor can visit back and forth among those contents in this unique visiting logic.Hypertext spatial narrative contains two major elements: the subdivision of narrative body and the channels’ design between those nodes.
