Cultural Research On The Sculpture Design Of Wuhu Sculpture Park

For a city,material life and spiritual life are indispensable.Thus,the imbalance of the two will impede the development of the city.The appearance of sculpture parks,to some extent,meets the urgent aesthetic needs of the contemporary people,improves the cultural taste of cities and has a profound significance for the comprehensive construction and balanced development of modern cities.This paper makes a comprehensive cultural study on the sculpture design of Wuhu Sculpture Park with several elements including material quality,modeling,theme and nationality,and demonstrates in depth the cultural connotation contained therein,in the hope of doing a pygmy effort to the cultural research work on sculpture parks.In addition,in view of the phenomenon that domestic scholars are keen on studying Western sculpture parks and Chinese mainstream sculpture parks,this thesis chooses Wuhu Sculpture Park as the subject with intention to arouse the attention of the Chinese to domestic and local sculpture parks,and to find the superiority and diversity of Chinese sculpture design.By means of data research,field investigation,measurement statistics,comparative study and case analysis,the cultural connotations in the sculpture design of Wuhu sculpture park are interpreted in detail,and it can offer a reference for the construction of other domestic sculpture parks and also can call on sculptors to carry out the creation practice in accordance with their own cultural context,in the light of local conditions and current conditions,to highlight the influence of national culture and regional culture,and to promote the all-round development of modern cities.The full text is divided into five chapters.The first chapter outlines the background,status,main contents,methods and significance of this research.The second chapter introduces the concept of sculpture parks,and then elicits the contents of origin,history and future planning of Wuhu Sculpture Park by introducing its cultural background.The third chapter,combined with the data obtained from field research,classifies the sculptures of Wuhu Sculpture Park according to the elements including material quality,modeling and theme,afterwards analyzes how the three elements express the cultural connotations of sculpture together.The fourth chapter uses a large number of examples to demonstrate the cultural connotations of the sculpture design of Wuhu Sculpture Park along the four lines of regional culture,time culture,cultural blending and cultural revival,which clarifies the interaction between Wuhu Sculpture Park and the culture of Wuhu,of China,and even of the world.The fifth chapter is a conclusion,which summarizes the full text,sums up the existing problems in Wuhu Sculpture Park and the possible solutions,then points out the limitations of this research.It is found that the cultural connotations of the sculpture design of Wuhu Sculpture Park are mainly embodied in the following aspects: the regional culture of Wuhu,the spirit of the times in the new period,the blending of Chinese and Western culture,and the revival of Chinese traditional culture.These cultural connotations have broadened people's horizons,deepened the public understanding of culture and provided contemporary sculptors with more creation materials.The cultural research on the sculpture design of sculpture park is an in-depth reflection on the relationship between sculpture design and humanistic environment.It is a useful attempt to turn the focus from the landscape value to the humanistic value of sculpture design.It can provide theoretical guidance for contemporary sculptors to integrate culture into design in their practice of creation.
