Interpretive theory is a representative theory of Paris School laying stress on “deverbalization”.It is of vital guiding significance to the practice of interpretation. This report presents a discussion on a simulated simultaneous interpreting task, using interpretive theory as the guidance in solving the problems encountered in the interpreting process. The material of this interpreting practice is a colloquial-style speech Where is Myself in the Globalized World chosen from Lecture Room of CCTV.It is about globalization,a hot topic, with prominent language feature, moderate difficulty and rate of speech, which is suitable for interpreting learners to do simulated simultaneous interpreting. The first three chapters of the report give a brief description of the background, purpose and significance of the project, analyze the content and characteristics of interpretation materials, and expound potential difficulties and translation process. The fourth part is the core of this report. The author takes the interpretive theory as the guidance and analyzes the problems in the interpreting process by means of explicitation, implicitation and reformulation. The author uses implication to solve the problems like duplicate and redundant information by intentionally simplifying or deleting some redundant parts of the source text.Explication is applied to rhetorical and logic meanings when they are translated into English. The author also uses the strategy of reformulation to rearrange some sentences that are logically disordered for a fluent and clear interpreting. It's hoped that this report can offer help for interpreting learners to future simultaneous interpreting of colloquial-style speech.
