| The Interpretive School of Translation Theory was developed in the late 1960s in France which explores the principles and teaching model of interpreting and non-literary translation.According to the Interpretive Theory,the interpreting process can be concluded as three steps:First,understanding of source language;second,deverbalization;third,expression in target language.The core notion of this theory is deverbalization.It argues that the interpreting processes are essentially based on deverbalized utterance meaning rather than the linguistic transcoding of the source language.In this thesis,the author did a simulated interpreting of Li Guangdou’s first speech of 2018 under the guidance of the Interpretive Theory.It is a highly impromptu speech with huge amounts of information,some parts of which are of bad logic,vague meanings or redundant expressions.Based on the Interpretive Theory and practice,the author did a case analysis from four manifestations of deverbalization:lexical elaboration,pragmatic or cohesive elaboration,reformulation and simplification.Research results show that the strategy of deverbalization can effectively improve the quality of interpreting and alleviate the burden on interpreters,especially in dealing with speeches with more impromptu content and huge amounts of information.This report includes five parts:First,the author introduces the background of the study,the speaker and his speech;second,the author describes the process of the interpreting practice;the third part is the introduction to the theoretical framework of the thesis;fourth,real cases from the interpretation are analyzed;the fifth part sums up the whole interpreting practice and implications drawn from it. |
