Study On The Potential Verb-Complement Construction "V De/bu Qi(?/??)"

This paper studied on the potential verb-complement construction "V de/bu qi" in modern Chinese.We started with language facts and based on a lot of corpus.From the perspective of constitution foundation,the classification of the variable term V,semantic types,contextual factors and asymmetrical phenomenon,we studied on the potential verb-complement construction "V de/bu qi".We made our classification more detailed on the basis of semantic classification,and summarized two kinds of major meanings: bearing and cognition.We also analyzed "V de/bu qi" from the point of economic,time,resource,evaluation and many other contextual factors.At last,we analyzed the reason that "V de qi" and "V bu qi" became asymmetric.In introduction,we reviewed the research results about the potential verb-complement construction from predecessors and introduced the potential verb-complement construction's type,semantic,the meaning of each component and so on.Chapter 1 mainly analyzed the internal composition of the potential verb-complement construction "V de/bu qi".We analyzed the constant term "bu","de","qi" and the variable term "V" separately.We discussed the grammatical functions of "bu",the feature and classification of verb which can enter this construction.Finally,we studied the function of the potential verb-complement construction "V de/bu qi" from semantic and grammar dimensions.Chapter 2 studied the contextual meaning and semantic types of the potential verb-complement construction "V de/bu qi" minutely.Based on the collection and arrangement of large quantities of corpus,we divided the semantic of the potential verb-complement construction "V de/bu qi" into two types: bearing meaning and subjective cognition meaning.And then,we made our classification more detailed according to the different verbs in different contexts.The semantic type of "V de/bu qi" which means bearing was more complex;this paper divided it into economic pressure,time pressure,resource pressure and so on.The semantic type of "V de/bu qi" which means cognition was not complicated relatively;we divided it into sensory cognition and memory cognition.Chapter 3 researched the asymmetry of "V de/bu qi" in use comprehensively.In the process of using,the frequency of "V bu qi" is higher than the frequency of "V de qi".This phenomenon is relevant to the extent of grammaticalization.First,we analyzed the grammaticalization process of "de" and "bu".Then we paid attention to the lexicalization of "buqi" and "deqi".At the same time,we analyzed people's daily communication needs.According to concrete situations,we could attribute it to grammaticalization,using frequency,expressive meaning,and the interpersonal communication of language and so on.
