The word "culture" is a complex existence and plays an important role in language.Language and culture have a very close relationship and are inseparable Language is an important part of culture,and it is also an important carrier of culture.For a language learner,learning a language is for communication,while communication often requires a background of cultural knowledge to help understanding the information conveyed by both parties in communication,sometimes a conflict caused by cultural differences,difficult to understand each other to express information and produce the wrong judgment.In Chinese teaching,no matter Chinese cultures or foreign cultures,it is impossible to ignore culture teaching.Chinese traditional festivals are the symbol of Chinese traditional culture,which is an important part of China's long history and culture.It contains not only the deep cultural connotation and value elements of the Chinese nation,but also its cultural characteristics and social functions.Therefore,it occupies an important position in Chinese teaching.This article starts with traditional festivals and uses questionnaire survey research method to investigate the students of the Chinese Department of IFL(Institute of Foreign Languages)at the RUPP(Royal University of Phnom Penh),to understand the students' understanding of traditional festivals,and on this basis,to make some analyze,combines with the students' desired teaching methods to put forward some suggestions on the effectiveness of traditional Chinese festival teaching,hoping to enable learners to better understand the knowledge and connotation of Chinese culture.The full text is divided into four chapters.The first chapter discusses the research background and significance,research objects and research methods.The second chapter expounds the importance of Chinese traditional festival culture teaching in Chinese teaching,the spread of Chinese traditional culture in Cambodia,and also describes the Chinese traditional festivals in the teaching of Chinese language in Cambodia.The third chapter is the design idea,data collection,statistics,and results analysis of the survey of cognitive questionnaire for Cambodian Chinese learners on Chinese traditional festivals.The fourth chapter puts forward suggestions on Chinese traditional festival culture teaching for Cambodian Chinese learners.
