In people's daily conversations, some words are often used by speakers to make listeners understand their meanings effectively and naturally. These words are called discourse markers. The most prominent feature of discourse markers is that they have no influence on the proposition meaning of the conversation, that is,removing it will not affect the substantive meaning of the speaker, but using discourse markers can make the conversation more natural and smooth.Discourse markers are very common in both Korean and Chinese conversations, but so far,the emphasis of Korean language education was aimed on grammar and vocabulary,no textbooks devoted to discourse markers. The lack of this part will bring difficulties to Korean learners in using Korean discourse markers in real Korean dialogues. Also, the contrastive study between Korean and Chinese discourse markers in the academic field has not begun a few years ago,so few references resources are available. So this paper is trying to contrast Korean discourse marker '(?)' and Chinese discourse marker '??(?)' which commonly used in two languages and corresponding in basic lexical meanings,in three aspects of semantic features, syntactic features and pragmatic functions with a corpus on the basis of the script of hot broadcast TV plays in Korean and Chinese. The first chapter is the introduction part, which introduces the purpose and the significance of this study, previous research, and the research subjects and methods. The second chapter introduces the theoretical background of this study.Mainly including the definition, characteristics and functions of discourse markers in Korean and Chinese, and lays a theoretical foundation for subsequent writing. The third chapter makes a contrast to semantic features of discourse markers '(?)'and '??(?)'.Listing their meanings in dictionaries, compares and analysis them with the corpus. The fourth chapter is the comparison of the syntactic features between discourse markers '(?)' and '??(?)',which are mainly divided into three parts:position distribution, markup form and connection relation. The connection relation is also divided into three aspects, that is referential relation, modifier relation and modal particle connection. The fifth chapter compares the pragmatic functions of discourse markers '(?)' and'??(?)'.There are many similar points in pragmatic function between discourse markers '(?)' and '??(?)'.In terms of discourse structure aspect, they both have turning topics, ending topics and ellipsis functions. In terms of emotional expression aspect, they can both express the negative emotions and exclamations of speakers. The main difference is that '(?)' has a meaning of a sudden reminiscent of the function of something, but '??(?)' has no.And '??(?)' has the function of positive emotional expression but '(?)' doesn't have. The sixth chapter is the conclusion part.Firstly, summarizing the contrast conclusions of the whole paper.Secondly, discuss the significance and limitations of the conclusions and prospect for the contrastive study of discourse markers between Korean and Chinese.Through comparative analysis, this paper revealed the similarities and differences in the three aspects of semantic features, syntactic features and pragmatic functions between discourse markers '(?)' and '??(?)',aims to provide some reference for Korean learners to learn or study discourse marker '(?)'.The study on Korean and Chinese discourse markers has just started, there is still a long way to go in the future, this study is just a small stone on this road. The study of discourse markers belonging to spoken dialogue field, with a strong randomness, also with the lack of reference resources, the research results of this paper will inevitably have certain limitations. In order to improve the conclusion constantly, more extensive research will be done in the future.
