The Comparative Study On Korean And Chinese Verbal Verbs

People often categorize things that they contact and construct a complete meaning system.This can facilitate the understanding of things,and such a system also reflects people's cognitive structure of things.According to the definition and semantic properties of verbal verbs,this paper selects 415 Korean verbal verbs and 304 Chinese verbal verbs as the research object from the Standard Language Dictionary and the Modern Chinese Dictionary.There is a big difference in the number of Korean and Chinese verbal verbs because the onomatopoeic words and mimetic words of the Korean language is particularly rich,and some Korean research objects in this article are precisely onomatopoeic words and mimetic words.The object verbs are classified hierarchically by semantic feature analysis,and the common semantic system of Korean and Chinese verbal verbs is constructed.This paper makes a semantic comparison analysis of Korean and Chinese verbal verbs in the same semantic system,and draws the following conclusions:First,according to whether there is a close interaction between the participants or not,the verbal verbs can be divided into two categories,[+close interaction]and[-close interaction].Second,according to whether the interaction between the participants of speech act is directly reflected by exchanging information with each other or not,[+close interaction]is divided into two categories,[+directly]and[-directly].According to the semantic properties of[�discussion],[� debate],[�appoint.ment]and so on,[+close interaction][+ directly]verbal verbs are classified hierarchically.And according to the semantic properties of[+reaction],[+irritation],[+answer],[+question]and so on,[+close interaction][-directly]verbal verbs are classified hierarchically.Thus,the semantic system of[+close interaction]verbal verbs is constructed.Third,according to whether it has the semantic property of[+evaluate],[-close interaction]verbal verbs are divided into two categories.Then they are classified hierarchically according to the semantic properties of[� attitude],[� way]and so on.Thus,the semantic system of[-close interaction]verbal verbs is constructed.Fourth,the lowest level in the semantic hierarchy of the Korean and Chinese verbal verbs reflects the near meaning relationship between the verbs in Korean language,the near meaning relationship between the Chinese verbal verbs and the correspondence between the verbs in the Korean and Chinese language.Through the analysis of these close relations and corresponding relations,this paper finds out the similarities and the differences,and has a profound understanding of the whole semantic system of the Korean and Chinese verbal verbs.This study not only provides an important foundation for the comparative study of Korean and Chinese vocabulary,but also helps people understand the cognitive system of verbal verbs.
