Tremendous changes have been put into our daily life with the economic globalization and the rapid development of science and technology. With the launching of high-level meetings such as the East Asia Summit and the Boao Forum for Asia, cooperation between China and other countries in the world is getting closer and closer.Innovation has become a hot word in China.China(Shanghai)International Technology Fair is an excellent business opportunity for Chinese enterprises to jointly seek mutual benefit and win-win cooperation with other enterprises around the world. The author chooses the TV round-table forum of the Fifth China(Shanghai)International Technology Fair as a task object to conduct simulated interpreting practice. The guiding theory of this interpreting practice report is Functionalist Skopos Theory.Functionalist Skopos Theory puts forward a systematic exposition of the definition of translation, the function of the target text, the role of the interpreter, and the principle of interpretation. It emphasizes that translation has a purpose and intercultural communication and that the function or purpose of the target text is an important element in determining translation strategies.Under the guidance of this theory, the author chooses the perspective of an interpreter and uses the specific cases in the interpreting practice as the objects of analysis. The author explains and analyzes the interpreter's translation strategies used in the interpreting process, and summarizes which kinds of translation strategies are used,as well as how to use these translation strategies under the guidance of Functionalist Skopos Theory.Through the analysis and study of the cases in the process of simulated interpreting, the interpreter mainly uses three kinds of translation strategies in the process: explanation, amplification, and omission.Functionalist Skopos Theory provides a good theoretical basis for the flexible use of diversified translation strategies and allows the interpreter to flexibly utilize multiple translation strategies in interpreting practice to give full play to the subjectivity,so as to achieve better translation goals. This report is intended to combine with interpreting examples to analyze how to select appropriate translation strategies to fulfill translation tasks more efficiently during the process of interpreting under the guidance of Functionalist Skopos Theory. The author is looking forward toproviding some valuable references to some extent to interpreters who may use relevant theory.
