With the rapid development of tourism and cultural undertakings, national and local museums have attracted a large number of tourists from home and abroad. The museum is an important means of transmitting historical and cultural information. The exhibits of museums carry heavy historical and cultural information. The museum has always assumed the important task of passing on and inheriting culture and remembering history, recording the unique culture and development of a particular historical period,so the protection of museums is becoming increasingly urgent. The author was commissioned by the International Exchange Office of Guangxi Arts University to translate an essay entitled “Local Museum of Isan,Thailand” for the 2017 China-ASEAN Forum on Art Cooperation and Development.Based on this translation project, the author intends to analyze the practice from the perspective of cognitive complement of the interpretive theory.By reviewing the problems encountered in the translation process and how they were solved, the report aims to draw on some experiences and lessons from translating academic papers under the guidance of cognitive complement, recognizing the important role of linguistic and extra-linguistic knowledge in helping the translator to understand and re-express the message contained in the original. It is hoped that this report would be of reference value to other translators in translating similar texts and remind them of the importance of accumulating knowledge.
