This report is based on the author's interpreting practice for an exporting glass project between Blue Land Glass Company in Zibo,Shandong and One Glass AB Company in Sweden from May 20th to 21st,2019.Hired by Blue Land Glass Company to interpret for both sides, the author came across some challenges such as unknown terms, unfamiliar information the clients mentioned in their conversation and unexpected changes in the subject of the speech or the clients' attitude while carrying on this task.To address these problems, the author makes use of her communication skills and tenets of interpretive theory such as deverbalization, conveying the communicative sense and utilizing the cognitive complements. From the viewpoint of interpretive theory, the essence of interpretation is to interpret the sense existing in the language form.Since its formation, this theory has been widely studied and applied.Scholars for interpretive theory summarize a series of rules in interpreting work. The author chiefly focuses on three important tenets in this theory, namely, deverbalizarion, sense and sense unit, and cognitive complement. The analysis of examples selected from this interpreting practice is mainly corresponding with these tenets. This report consists of five chapters.Chapter One is task description, covering background information about this project, clients and procedures of this interpreting, preparations for the task and challenges encountered in the task.Chapter Two introduces the theoretical framework, including development of interpretive theory and some theoretical tenets such as deverbalization, sense and sense unit, and cognitive complements that play a significant role in this interpreting activity.Chapter Three reports this interpreting activity focusing on the difficulties that the author encountered in this interpreting experience and some tactics in relation to interpretive theory to deal with these problems.Chapter Four summarizes feedback from the clients and the author's reflections on carrying out this interpreting task.Chapter Five is the part of conclusion,in which the importance of pre-task preparations, language skills and comprehensive ability is emphasized.
