Research On Dong Zhongshu' Political Ethics Thought

Dong zhongshu, a famous ideologist in China, lived in the period of Xi han Dynasty. His ideology brought a huge impact for the Chinese society. At the beginning of the Xi han dynasty, the slavery system had just collapsed. In the meantime, a suitable system for a feudal economy had not fully build up. Based on the experience he earned, Dong zhongshu participated into the exploration of politics for the Han dynasty. It helps him set up a base for propagating his political thoughts towards the society. He takes Confucianism as the main idea and Dong zhongshu acquires different political thoughts from Yin-yang,Fa, Taoists, Mohist, which brought a number of ideas for his establishment of “New Confucianism”.Dong zhongshu`s political ethic thoughts established based on the political goals of internal saints and external kings. His philosophical thoughts on heaven explain how does the ideas worked. His humanity debate, Three Grades of Human Nature, offer a human base for the social ethic politics. The theory of heaven-human induction provide a legal reference for the emperor in order to building up the political power and guide the publicans.His political ethic thoughts serves politics of kingcraft. Three cardinal guides and the five constant virtues are the core aspects, which led to a huge impact towards maintaining the despotism and strengthening the feudalism. Besides, the thoughts of great unity guaranteed and the system could follow. It kept the society politics stablely. Dong zhongshu merge the dialecticism into his own political thoughts for achiving the reform thought of governing the country, so that in order to maintain the rule of the feudal empire and in the long term, the society may remain peace.
