All the interrogative sentences in Chinese can be used as rhetorical questions,and all the interrogative pronouns can appear in the rhetorical question,including the location interrogative pronoun.However,only the ancient Chinese monosyllabic words"(Yan)?"and"(An)?""(Wu)?",the word"(Na)?(?)"that ancient Chinese began to use,and"(Na li)??(??)"which has been used in modern Chinese,and"(Na'er)??(??)"which has came from the northern dialect of modern Chinese before the modern Chinese,are from the location interrogative words to the typical question marks.The rhetorical functions of these words have been recognized,and they are labeled independently in all Chinese dictionaries.This paper uses description and analysis,diachronic and synchronic methods to describe and analyze the interrogative makers which are from the location interrogative pronouns in 30 ancient Chinese literature and more than 5.66 million words and modern Chinese materials.The second chapter has described the overall narrative rhetorical markers in Chinese history and the third chapter has detailed descriptions of them.On the basis of the two,the fourth chapter focused on the resource and the reason and the process of the rhetorical question marks"(Na li)??(??)""(Na'er)??(??)".The main conclusions are that(a)"(Na)?(?)"the interrogative pronouns of significance is likely to be the first of its function,in the Tang Dynasty the selection function of"(Na)?(?)"is directly changed by its premises and the interrogative function,the rhetorical mark function formed on the basis of the function of interrogative pronouns;(b)"(Na li)??(??)"and"(Na'er)??(??)"are coming after and became the special shape of interrogative location pronouns related to"(Na)?(?)",and they have also developed a question mark function;(c)self-depreciatory expression"(Na li)????"is further grammaticalization form of rhetorical markers,intermediate experienced"(Na li)??"independent negative(including self-depreciatory expression)function,and because of phonetic forms and conversational requirements,"(Na'er)??"can not be overlapping to express self-depreciatory expression,just like"(Na li)??".
