The academic circles have enriched the research results of Chinese similar words such as "Ru","Ruo".No matter from a synchronic or diachronic perspective,a series of studies have been done by predecessors. However,on the whole, most of previous studies focused on one aspect or one word analysis. So far,no one has explored the evolution of Chinese similar words in an all-round way. Therefore, based on grammaticalization, this paper makes a comprehensive survey of the evolution of Chinese similar words, such as "Ru","Ruo","Si" and "Xiang" from five different angles. The paper is divided into the following six chapters:The first chapter is the introduction. It mainly introduces the past research situation of similar words. On this basis,it puts forward the scope and key points, significance and methods of the research, and explains the source of corpus. The second chapter to the sixth chapter is the key part of the study.According to the different evolution of semantic evolution of "Ru","Ruo","Si" and "Xiang",the evolution paths are mainly divided into five categories. The second chapter is the evolution of similar words to hypothetical conjunctions, the third chapter is similar words to adverbs representing conjectural semantics, the fourth chapter is similar words to comparative meaning, the fifth chapter is similar words to affixes, the sixth chapter is the evolution of similar words to the topic marker. The development process of the semantic evolution of similar words in the above path is thoroughly investigated. The reasons for the semantic evolution of similar words are mainly influenced by syntactic and contextual factors. The last is the part of the conclusion. It will summarize the discussion of this paper and puts forward the problems to be further studied in this paper.
