We are in an age of information explosion,social changes tend to be more diverse,and having the autonomous learning ability is the basic ability to keep pace with the social progress.In view of our primary school English teaching,it is basically a teacher-based spoon-fed teaching.Students listen to what the teacher says,so the students learn passive,it results in students' low participation in English classroom teaching,poor performance and low interest.Although there were many achievements in the study of autonomous learning,the study of English autonomous learning of senior students in primary school has just began in China.The 'English Curriculum Standards' in 2011 requires teachers to stimulate students'autonomous learning ability.Based on this,this study investigates the current situation and existing problems of English autonomous learning of senior students in primary school through questionnaire and interview and so on,and studies the strategies for stimulating students' English autonomous learning ability.In this paper,through questionnaires and interview,has investigated the current situation of English autonomous ability of students in grade five in Experimental primary school in Jinchang,and has made a study on the strategy for developing students' English autonomous learning ability,by designing the teaching process and teaching activities based on the Meta-cognitive theory and Constructivism theory,and has proved through classroom observation and tests that the students' autonomous learning ability,and the improvement their English scores are positively correlated.This research shows that teachers should choose appropriate teaching strategies to cultivate and improve students' autonomous learning ability.When students' autonomous learning ability is improved their learning initiative,self-discipline and self-management ability are improved,so students academic performance is improved accordingly.This study has selected primary school students in grade five as experimental subjects and taken strategies relevant with the characteristics of students in the teaching process to stimulate students learning enthusiasm,help students master autonomous learning strategies,improve students' self-study ability,and class performance and further more get satisfactory scores.This study is divided into six parts.The first part is the research background,which mainly introduces,the present situation of English autonomous learning of primary school students in China,and points out the problems and shortcomings,indicating,the significance of this research is the literature view,sorting out the relevant domestic and foreign researches,pointing out the contributions and shortcomings of the existing research institutes,and clarifying the significance of this study on this basic.The third part introduce briefly the two theoretical basis of this study:Meta-cognitive theory and Constructivism theory in choosing teaching strategies for cultivating the students' autonomous learning ability,and designing the teaching activities and teaching process.The fourth part introduces the research process in detail.The fifth part analyzes the results,the analysis of the collected data shows that the teaching strategies,this research has chosen for the cultivation of students' English autonomous learning can not only stimulate the enthusiasm of students' English learning,but also effectively improve students autonomous learning ability.The sixth part summarizes the research.The experiment shows that if the teachers choose appropriate teaching strategies in the teaching process to cultivate the students' autonomous learning ability,they can effectively improve the students learning enthusiasm and initiative and self-management of ability.The awareness and ability of self-management can stimulate students' interest in English learning improve their classroom participation,and ultimately improve students' academic performance.
