The Investigation And Research Ferry Sites On The Yellow Rive Late Qing Dynasty To The Republic Of China In Lanzhou

Yellow River is the first long river to the west on the route of the Silk Road form Chang'an.Yellow River mainly flows though Gansu Province with many ferries,most of which locate at Lanzhou.According to the field investigation,there were 18 ferries and 3 main brdiges built from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China in Lanzhou.Around the ferry crossing,there are 5 passes,6 Fort houses,2 post offices,1 shipyards,1 towers,11 River temples and 10 inscriptions.The main concern of the academic community is Qing Shi Ferry,Jin Cheng Ferry,Qing Cheng Ferry,there are no systematic research studies on the remaining 15 ferries.This field survey,defined the specific location and distribution of 18 ferries,there are five in Cheng Guan District,one in Qi Lihe District,five in Xi Gu District,six in Yu Zhong country,one in Gao Lan country.From west to east,there are ferries of Ba Pan River Ferry,Qing Shi Zui Ferry,Qing Shi Ferry,Xin Cheng River Ferry,Zhong Jia River Ferry,Ma Tan Ferry,along the Yellow River Ferry,Jiao Chang River Ferry,Duan Jia Tan Ferry,Gong Xing Dun Ferry,Dong Gang Zhen Ferry,Shi Zui Ping Ferry,Hong Shi Ai Ferry,White Stone Ferry,Shi Chuan Bu Ferry,Wei Ci Wan Ferry,Yi Tiao Cheng Ferry,Dong Tan Ferry.According to the investigation data:Firstly,the ferries of Lanzhou from the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China,can be divide into two kinds:the ferries related to the government and the ferries related to the civilian,the distribution and location of the governmental ferries is always relate to the factors such as the national post road,important castle and pass,etc.Secondly,there are 11 temples of river gods around ferries.Divided by type: River God Temple,Dragon King Temple and Four king hall of Golden Dragon.Their beliefs are mainly manifested in,prevent Yellow River flood and pray traffic safety,etc.After the ferry was replaced by modern bridges,the simplification of the function of the river god,the main manifestation of this is to pray for the family.Thirdly,the development of Lanzhou ferry transportation reached its peak in the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China,increased number of private ferries,bring convenience to the development of urban economy,ferries has a special transport management mechanism.With the construction of highways and modern bridges,the ferries were abandoned.Lanzhou ferry transportation development is an important part of urban development in Lanzhou,study of Lanzhou ferry transportation is helpful to further study the development of land and waterway transportation in Gansu Province,and to promote the effective protection and rational development and utilization of the Ferry site.
