A Cognitive Poetic Study On The Online Construction Of Images In Liu Yong’s Journey Ci-Poetry

Classical Chinese poetry is the treasure of traditional Chinese culture,and Ci-poetry is an important part.People are committed to exploring and appreciating the beauty of classical poetry from different aspects.The theme of Chinese poetry is integrated by images,so the study of images is crucial to the understanding of poetry.In the past,many scholars have studied the images of classical Chinese poetry.But they always study it from the view of literature and aesthetics,and a few are from the perspective of cognitive poetics as well.The scholars have made many achievements and great contributions.However,it is difficult to understand Ci-poetry,so less researchers analyze Ci-poetry.The previous research always focuses on the understanding and classifications of images,so as to analyze the meaning of poetry,poets’ life and personal feelings,but few study images from the perspective of cognitive poetics.Based on Schema Theory of cognitive poetics and Conceptual Blending Theory of cognitive linguistics,this paper tries to study the images in Liu Yong’s journey Ci-poetry from the perspective of cognitive poetics and answer the following questions:(1)How are the images of Liu Yong’s journey Ci-poetry classified?(2)How are the images constructed on-line?We find that the entitative image and the virtual image are involved in Liu Yong’s journey Ci poetry.The entitative image can be divided into the objective natural image and the social image.There are seven kinds of objective natural images while there are five kinds of social images.What’s more,the images in Liu Yong’s journey Ci poetry are constructed online through literary schema mechanism and conceptual blending mechanism.Specifically,they are constructed online by schema reinforcement,schema refreshment and schema restructuring,which involve conceptual blending in the operation.During the operation of schema reinforcement,schema refreshment and schema restructuring,conceptual blending mechanism is also employed in the generation of literary schema.In this paper,schema theory and concept blending theory are applied to study online construction of images.It can explore online construction of images in Liu Yong’s journey Ci-poetry from a deeper level,which provides new perspectives and new conclusions for the study of poetry.In addition,schema theory and conceptual blending theory are combined in this study.The result demonstrates the operability of cognitive poetics,and it also makes a positive contribution to the localization of the cognitive poetics theories.
