Translation is of great importance to the communication and exchanges between China and other countries,especially the role of the translation of English for Science and Technology.The translator chose the schema theory as the guidance for this translation practice report and the first,second,third and fifth chapters of Lasers and Light,Peels and Abrasions: Applications and Treatments,a volume of articles which belongs to English medical text,as his translation practice materials.This report attempts to analyze the examples in the target text from the perspective of vocabulary,syntax,and context,summarize the translation difficulties posed by cosmetic medicine text.It will focus on the translation strategies for terminologies,long sentences and passive sentences in the original text in the part of case analysis based on linguistic schema,content schema and formal schema,hoping to produce professional and standardized translation.This translation report is mainly comprised of five chapters.Chapter One chiefly introduces the purpose,significance as well as the information about the original text.Chapter Two is about the analysis of the original text in terms of vocabulary,syntax.The third chapter mainly involves the description of the whole translation process,which consists of before translation,while translation and after translation.Before translation focuses on the preparation of background knowledge,on how to formulate glossary of terms as well as how to choose appropriate translation tools and parallel texts.Besides,an important part is distributed to the necessity of the choosing of schema theory in this part.For while translation,the translator discusses how to implement quality control so as make his translation better and better.The translator also summarizes the details concerning the whole translation process.For after translation,the translator mainly focuses on the management and improvement of the translated text as well as the evaluation from peers and supervisor.Chapter Four,as the core part of this report,attempts to put forward and summarize different translation strategies concerning the translation of terminologies,long sentences and passive sentences in the original text.Chapter Five gives a summary of the whole translation practice report and talks about the requirements of being a qualified translator.
