The book,Tea Ceremony-from Drinking Tea to Understanding Tea,published by Jiangsu Phoenix Science and Technology Press,was written by Mr.Wang Jianrong,curator of Chinese Tea Museum and executive director of China International Tea Culture Research Association.This is an encyclopedia on tea ceremony and tea art,such as appraising quality of water,choosing of tea wares,making a good cup of tea and so on.It is a kind of tea art treasure which is necessary for many tea people and people who understand tea and has a high value of international publicity.Up to now,the author has not found the English translated version of the book,so this is the first translation.The translation material talks about the culture of Chinese tea ceremony.The translation practice report is guided by the Eco-Translatology theory.The first three chapters of the book are translated,namely,the concepts you must know before buying tea,the experience of experts selling tea,purchase and brewing of green tea.The translation practice report will focus on the three dimensions of Eco-Translatology,namely,linguistic dimension,cultural dimension,communicative dimension,and some specific translation methods such as literal translation with notes,transliteration,etc.,and explore unique linguistic and cultural characteristics of tea ceremony culture about the international publicity materials,in order to strive for faithful reproduction of the message conveyed in the original text.In view of the difficulties and solutions encountered in the process of translation,this paper discusses the effective translation methods so as to find out the causes of conflicts in communication,hoping to avoid further conflicts in cross-cultural communication.It hopefully provides a useful reference for the translation practice of this kind of text and promotes the cultural exchange between the East and the West.It is also a kind of enrichment and development to the Eco-Translatology theory.This report consists of four parts.The first part is the description of the translation task,namely,the background,the selection significance and the application value of the translated text.The second part is the theoretical guidance of translation practice,which elaborates the theory applied in this report,ie,Eco-Translatology.The third part is the description of translation process,that is,the preparation of translation,the reading and analysis of the original text,and the reading and analysis of the target text(from three aspects: linguistic dimension,cultural dimension and communicative dimension).Part four summarizes the experience,lessons,enlightenment,prospect of translation and acknowledgement.
