This article is based on the author's personal experience after studying at the William de Kooning academy in the Netherlands(abbreviation:WDKA),in allustion to the talents cultivation goal,curriculum content,curriculum setup,curriculum structure and other aspects,exploring its basic design course mode of undergraduate graphic design major in two academic years from 2014 to 2016.The article first outlines the contemporary education and social background in the Netherlands,then explores the curriculum setup according to the dramatically changing realities by the academy.It analyzes the model of major and practice courses,expounding on the cooperate relation to the area of core courses,elective courses and station courses.The author also analyzes logical and systematic design thinking training;practice-oriented combination between art and real life,the arts education and practice,which assists to understand the knowledge of weakening the inherent boundaries between disciplines.This article emphasizes the interdisciplinary ability and other aspects of the characteristics by analyzing real cases of the author as well.It has summarized the argument and concluded that the academy curriculum has four features: project-oriented,practice-oriented,ability-oriented,self-oriented types as the latest improved features.It cultivates a large number of pioneer artists and designers who are able to seek through the essence of the problem,ideas beyond the limits of themselves,full of creativity and in the meantime meet the needs of the requirement of our society.
