With the more and more frequent exchanges between China and the world,it is a necessary skill to speak fluent English in the future.Curriculum standards also clear the need to cultivate students,communicative competence in English,which is not only necessary for students' future development,but also the driving force of students'continuous learning of English.But the reality is that speaking,one of the five basic skills,has not received adequate attention in English teaching under the pressure of examination-oriented education.Therefore,how to cultivate students' speaking ability is still a topic worth studying.The purpose of this study is to explore the effective strategies to improve oral English teaching of No.1 Senior High School in Jiangxia district,Wuhan City,after investigating the present situation of oral English teaching in the school and analyzing the reasons behind it.The study will answer the following questions:1)What is the current situation of students,oral English learning in No.1 Senior High School in Jiangxia district?2)What is the current situation of oral English teaching in No.1 Senior High School in Jiangxia district?3)What are the reasons for the present situation of oral English teaching in No.1 Senior High School in Jiangxia district?4)How to improve the efficiency of oral English teaching in No.1 Senior High School in Jiangxia district?Then summarize the probable reasons for the current situation.From educational environment:teaching evaluation system is not perfect;teaching facilities is relatively poor;the class schedule is unreasonable;lack of environment for practising oral English.From teachers:they are not paying attention to oral English;their professional level is not enough;old ideas and methods of education.From students:lack of self-confidence and correct learning motivation;psychological barrier;weak foundation,they don't devote much time;inflexible learning strategies and lack of cultural background knowledge.Finally,based on the findings and teaching practice,the author expresses his suggestions on how to improve the oral English teaching efficiency from the angle of schools,teachers and students.1)We should improve the teaching guiding ideology and teaching concept in the educational system,reform the examination system,innovate the English evaluation system,optimize the reorganization of teaching materials and teaching materials,and reset the curriculum system and structure.2)Schools should increase investment and improve teaching conditions,create good oral English learning environment in campus,ensure teachers' treatment,attract teaching staff and increase training for English teachers.3)Teachers should improve their own spoken language ability,study educational theory,update educational ideas and methods,improve scientific research ability and deepen classroom reform.4)Students should strengthen the learning of basic knowledge,properly use oral learning strategies,improve cultural literacy,and clear up psychological barriers.This paper finally summaries the main research results and shortcomings,in order that students can eventually improve oral English ability under the correct guidance of their teachers.
