Study habit is one of the principal non-intellectual factors affecting foreign language learning.However,according to the author's teaching,most of junior school students in rural area formed bad study habits such as no preview or revision,no note-taking,no reciting words,no independent thinking,no extracurricular reading,etc.,which interfered students' improvement of English proficiency.Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan is a national-widely promoted innovative teaching model where the teacher and students work cooperatively with the guided learning plans to finish learning tasks.Although researchers and teachers have studied the Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan from different angles,the researches on the influence of it on students' study habits are erratic.Therefore,the research investigated the influence of Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan on junior school students' English study habits and English proficiency by conducting an experiment in the theoretical framework of constructivism,the Zone of Proximal Development and meaningful learning.The research questions were: 1)Can Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan improve junior school students' English proficiency? 2)Can Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan help junior school students form good English study habits? 3)What are the students' opinions of the Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan?The participants were students in two parallel classes of Grade Nine in a middle school in Qinyyuan City.There were 42 students in the experimental group and there were 44 students in the control group.During the experiment,experimental group applied Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan while control group applied Grammar-translation Method.The instrument included tests and questionnaires.Pre-test was designed to investigate whether there were significant differences between EG and CG.Post-test aimed to investigate the influence of Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan on students' English proficiency.Questionnaire 1 was conducted before and after the experiment to investigate the influence of Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan on students' English study habits.Questionnaire 2 was conducted only after the experiment to find out what students thought about Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan.The data of tests and questionnaires were analyzed with SPSS 19.0.The results showed that: 1)The scores of post-test of EG were much higher than that of CG,showing that Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan could improve students English proficiency;2)The English study habits of EG were much better after the experiment,revealing that Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan had positive influence in students' good study habits formation;3)Students held positive attitude to Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan.This study concluded that Teaching Model with Guided Learning plan was significantly effective in improving students' English proficiency and forming good English study habits.In addition,students held positive attitude to the Teaching Model with Guided Learning Plan.
