Episches Theater theory is an important part of Brechtian theatre theory.Defamiliarization effect is the core of his idea and at the same time the theory emphasizes the possibility of knowing and changing the world,the role of reason indrama.Angelopoulos's film creation was deeply influenced by Brechtian theatre theory,and this influence in Angelopoulos's film creation career shows some implicit orexplicit characteristics.These characteristics together with Angelopoulos's films add abright color to the Greek movies.This paper tries to study Angelopoulos's films under Brecht's Episches Theatertheory and explore the development his film creation.In the introduction part,thispaper introduces the research ideas:the meaning of Episches Theater theory,thedevelopment situation and the core points of this theory.And it also summarizes themanifestations of Episches Theater in Angelopouloss films during different periods torecognize and redistrict the different stages of his films.In chapter one,this paper:discusses the relationship between Angelopoulos's films and politics to explore the political representation,the character features and the purpose of socialization in hisfilms.In chapter two,this paper studies the latent characteristics of Episches Theatertheory in Angelopoulos's film creation and it mainly presents movie creation approaches,which follows on from the previous questions of the theme in the first stage.In chapter three,this paper mainly discusses the transcending ofAngelopoulos's film creation on the basis of the internalization of Episches Theater theory and anticipates the characteristics of Angelopoulos's films which wereunfinished.In chapter four,this paper researches the film practice and innovationbased on Episches Theater theory in Angelopoulos's films.
