Following the development of Chinese language and propagation of Chinese culture in Kenya,Confucius Institute Headquarters(Hanban)has set up Confucius institutes with four popular Kenyan universities.Where every Confucius institute has been set at different times over a period of more than 10 years.Investigation and research has been carried out on all the four Confucius institute for the purpose of finding out the areas where the teaching of Chinese language has made progress.This thesis is based on the research on current situation of teaching Chinese in every Confucius institute analyzing of teaching standard and available resources for each institute.The methodology has been adopted for research is a visit to every Confucius institute,one-on-one interview with the respondents,observation and a simple questionnaire to guide other respondents.Conclusions have been made on the basis of the facts and data collection.The Research is divided in to five chapters with chapter one discussing the research objective and significance of this research,chapter two highlights the current state of every Confucius Institute and the methods used in teaching Chinese.Chapter three involved the important elements such as comparison of teacher and their skills.Chapter four has analyzed teaching resource available for every Confucius institute and the use of computers in quality teaching of Chinese their analysis.Finally the last chapter five,Chapter five concludes by highlighting some achievement and progress that each Confucius institutes have gone through in the recent past.It also highlights the important role Confucius institutes has played in propagating Chinese language in Kenya and the opportunity they have created to Chinese learners in Kenya.
