| Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Kenya,the exchanges between Kenya and China have also increased.At the same time,there has also been a wave of learning Chinese in Kenya.More and more students want to learn Chinese,study in China,and participate in Chinese training.This has formed a trend in Kenya.As a institution of language promotion and cultural dissemination,the Confucius Institute provides a good platform for Chinese learners to improve their Chinese.After 15 years of development,the Confucius Institute has formed a development trend of traditional Chinese culture going abroad and realizing foreign exchanges.In the context of cross-cultural communication today,the headquarters of the Confucius Institute has undergone a new transformation period,from the increase in quantity to the pursuit of quality improvement and more emphasis on internal optimization.The Confucius Institute Headquarters / Hanban has been exploring new development directions,hoping to improve the organization and management structure of the Confucius Institutes around the world and establish Confucius Institute operating models.Therefore,the operation and management of the Confucius Institute has become a hot research direction.The Confucius Institute at Kenyatta University was established in 2008 and officially unveiled in 2010.It is the second Confucius Institute established by China in Kenya.It has achieved good results in Chinese teaching,cultural activities,innovation projects,and media reports.The Confucius Institute at the University of Kenyatta is already the largest Confucius Institute for Chinese language teaching and examination in Kenya.It hopes to develop into a comprehensive Confucius Institute that integrates teaching,cultural exchange and academic research.This article is mainly divided into five parts.The introduction part mainly introduces the basis for selecting the topic,the current research status of the Confucius Institute’s operation at home and abroad,and the operation model and research method of the Confucius Institute at Kenyatta University.The first chapter is a survey of the basic situation of the Confucius Institute at the University of Kenyatta.The first section mainly introduces the development background ofthe Confucius Institute at the University of Kenyatta.It includes historical origin,language environment,policy support,tourism development and social support.The development background of the Confucius Institute was introduced in five aspects.Sections 2 to 5 briefly introduced the basic situation of the Confucius Institute from the aspects of the school’s running mechanism,teaching situation,cultural activities and outreach exchange.The second chapter is the investigation and research on the operation status of the Confucius Institute at the University of Kenyatta.The questionnaires and interviews are used to investigate the four aspects of the school running mechanism,teaching situation,cultural activities,and outreach exchanges.Based on the results of the analysis,suggestions for the operation of the Confucius Institute at the University of Kenyatta were put forward. |
