Currently English speaking and listening class in Junior high school is mechanical and inflexible to a certain extent and students lack of contextualized practice and real purpose to communicate.So based on the present situation,the author tries to combine immersion instruction with English speaking and listening teaching so as to provide improvement measures and feasible solutions.In order to achieve this objective,the author analyzed all the instructional elements thoroughly and the theoretical basis of immersion instruction.Then one class of Grade Seven in the****school is picked up and an analysis of students'basic condition,existing knowledge,interests and needs of speaking and listening English are given through questionnaire.Next the author carried out the instructional design of English speaking and listening class--taking Unit 1 in Module 8 as an example.From the author's self reflection,students' questionnaire after class and supervisor's advice in an interview,the author analyzed the class comprehensively and systematically.It can be concluded that immersion instruction can attract students' learning interests and increase class participation in English speaking and listening gradually;Moreover,it helps students increase more listening opportunities in an immersion environment and get more listening improvements;Activities in immersion class is communicative and contextualized so that students are more willing to use English and express thoughts.
