The Holistic Influence Of Milan Kundera On The Narrative Art Of Chinese Vanguard Novels

Milan Kundera,a Czech exiled in France.Since his works have been translated and introduced in China,they have attracted the attention of the literary world and the readers.The "Milan Kundera fever" which was heated in the late 1980 s has been famous until now.The influence of him in China is unparalleled,only a few writers such as Borges,Faulkner,Marquez and Kawabata Yasunari can compare with him.As a cultural phenomenon that has just entered China,Kundera,to some degree,still exists contradiction with the mainstream ideology.But with the gradual opening of ideology and the influx of Western Modernism,Kundera is more closely related to Chinese literary and cultural context.This incarnates mainly in three aspects.At first,all of Kundera's important works have corresponding Chinese versions.Secondly,Kundera's new works are always translated and introduced in a timely manner since 1990 s.Thirdly,the piracy of Kundera's works is serious in China.The reason why Kundera is so popular in China is that his experience is related to political ideology and social background.And this is also the most easily aroused emotional resonance among Chinese readers.At the same time,the interrogation of the consciousness of existence highlighted in his novels coincided with the influence of Western existentialism in China at that time.On the other hand,Kundera believed that the exploration of the existence is inseparable from the change in form.Therefore,he actively explored the possibility limit of the novel.This provides a new perspective and possibility for the form experiments required by Chinese contemporary vanguard novels in the narrative technique and discourse level at the end of the 1980 s.Therefore,on the basis of previous studies,using the impact study in comparative literature and the fine reading method of the new Anglo American criticism,this paper tries to explore the holistic influence of Milan Kundera on the narrative art of Chinese vanguard novels in the late 1980 s.The main part of this paper is set up in three chapters for special discussion.In the first chapter,starting from the classification of exile patterns by Chen Zhaorong,in the perspectives of spiritual exile and exploration of existence,the similarities between Kundera and vanguard writers of personal experience,living environment and cultural background are discussed,which to establish the foundation and precondition of Kundera'sinfluence on Chinese vanguard writers.The second chapter discusses the influence of Kundera on the narrative art of the vanguard novels.Kundera is devoted to discover the different aspects of the existence in a peculiar and logic way to the novel.In this chapter,on the basis of fine reading,the author is going to use the theory and methods of narratology,starting from the influence of Kundera on the narrative art of vanguard novels in creating principle,structure and form,and writing strategies,to further reveal them which show panic and loss of significance in novels.The third chapter discusses the value and significance of Kundera's research in China,and summarizes his influence on the narrative art of vanguard novels from his view of novel,novel form and language style,to ensure that Kundera's special contribution to the value of fiction is that he constantly explores new styles of novels,which many writers can learn and draw lessons from and broaden the possibility limit of novels.
