This is a translation report of Sharp Eyes,the Silver Fox,written by Richard Barnum,an American children's literature writer.The translation object of this practice report is Sharp Eyes,the Silver Fox,and then the author makes a summary of the translation process and makes a certain study on the English-Chinese translation of children's literature.The book belongs to the category of English children's literature texts.In the process of translation,a translator should reproduce the original work in simple language and realize the writer's purpose of educating children.Under the guidance of Nida's functional equivalence theory,by translating the Sharp Eyes,the Silver Fox,the author pays attention to the function equivalence rather than the form equivalence,emphasizing the need from the perspective of the reader to convey the information that is consistent with the source text.To translate this novel successfully,the translator should accurately grasp the text's rhetoric characteristics in the translation process,adopting flexible translation technique and handling problems such as language differences.The author hopes to make contributions to other English children's novel translators through this translation studies so that domestic readers can appreciate international children's literature better and promote the communication between Chinese culture and western culture.Using Skopos theory,the author takes into account the readability of the translation from the two aspects of oral expression and long sentence treatment and also grasps the vividness of the translation from the aspects of rhetorics and onomatopoeia.Target readers' comprehension and the characteristics of the language should be considered in the process of translation.The author employs the translation techniques such as amplification,omission,and repetition to highlight the purpose of fun and education typical of children's literature,using children's language as much as possible.The report is divided into four parts: the introduction,the process of the translation,the case analysis and the summary of the translation.The introduction includes the background and the status quo of children's literature research and the nature and characteristics of the text of this study.The process of the translation including preparation,translation and proofreading.The author explores the guiding theory suitable for the text.The case analysis that combined with the examples with suitable translation techniques under the guidance of theory and the problems or errors in the translation process as well as the selection of vocabulary in translation.The last part is a summary of the translation practice.The author reflects on some of the problems encountered and offers some advice to make some contributions to children's literature translation in China.
