Archives of literary inquisition in Qing dynasty is collated and complemented on the basis of the version by the literature library of Beijing Palace Museum in 1986.The complete and true contents supplies us a channel to the literary inquisition from Kangxi dynasty to Qianlong dynasty.As the official archives in Qing dynasty,the main content is about the processing and results of literation inquisition by governments.From the perspective of linguistic research,we find there are a large vocabulary related with laws and a great amount of colloquial words reflecting the language usage in Qing dynasty.Qing dynasty is the later period of modern Chinese,so it plays an important role during the whole process of Chinese development.Adopting various research methods,we collated and analyzed the vocabulary in those materials in order to have a better knowledge of the social life in Qing dynasty through our linguistic research.The Chapter One is introduction,including the versions of Archives of literary inquisition in Qing dynasty as well as status quo of research and the research value in linguistics.The Chapter two is analysis,including the choosing and classifying the legal vocabulary and analyzing some particular words by method of explanation and description,the last part is research of linguistic features such as synonym and legal word-building.The chapter three is the research of colloquial words in the written confession,mainly research on the judgment of colloquial words and native places of criminals.The Chapter four offers paraphrasing of words of The Great Chinese Dictionary,then contrarative analysis is made on the basis of The Great Chinese Dictionary in which uncolleted words are complimented.The Chapter five is the conclusion including the general summary of this whole paper as well as some defects in our research.
