This is a legal translation report whose original text is excerpted from the 22nd chapter in Criminal Procedure of Kansas Statutes.Kansas formally became a free state on account of the Kansas Statues enacted by the US Government,so the importance of Kansas Statues can be inferred. At the present day, translators and scholars have made great achievements in legal translation research, but not many in the field of criminal procedures. The report discusses the translation of lexica, and long sentences as well as the problems encountered in the translation process, such as legal synonyms, legal terminology, common words, attributive clauses, and adverbial clauses. The report focuses on the translation strategies or methods adopted in the translation of the above features, such as the equivalent theory, paraphrase translation, creative translation, division, inversion and so on.With the increase of legal translation, the problems of translating legal lexica, and long sentences also gradually increase. The author sincerely hopes that this translation will provide some learning and reference for those who study or translate criminal proceedings.
