Long Sentences Translation Strategies From Chinese To English In Contract /Charter Class Of Legal Documents

Along with the continuous promotion of global economy integration, China's foreign trade is increasing day by day as well as the application of business English. Meanwhile, the disputes of foreign business legal documents, especially contracts and agreements, becomes more and more frequent, with many of them arising from the wording of those documents. Foreign business legal documents have legal effect and its original text are in English, hence for translators, being familiar with the professional wording and sentence patterns is crucial for the correct understanding of legal documents. Because legal documents, like contracts and constitutions, are the force of law and have binding effect on the contracting parties, so they usually adopt long sentences with rigorous language structures to express an entire meaning, hence long sentences become the most important factors in legal documents. The thesis put its emphasis analyzing the long sentences in the materials confronting by the author in the internship program and the strategies to solve different types of sentences, so this thesis has an universal significance to the interpretation of long sentences in legal documents.
