| Language is the building blocks of the legal world,and law cannot even be represented without language.The statement of legal concepts is to transform the abstract rules into written texts,in which the features such as accuracy,brevity and rigor in legal terms,sentences and overall layout require to be embodied.As a result,legal content can be unified with linguistic forms.Legal language,as a variety of prescriptive languages,presents its own characteristics in terms of lexical,syntactic and discourse aspects.In retrospect of previous researches on legislative texts,scholars have made remarkable achievements in the field of morphology and syntax.And in view of the construction of legislative texts,previous scholars lay more emphasis on explicit cohesive devices,but few of them try to probe into the coherence in legislative texts.Given that Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has a long history of bilingual legislation,this paper selects several typical English legislative texts of Hong Kong as the target of this research.And in order to reveal the intrinsic features of discourse coherence in English legislative texts,this paper introduces a new perspective of cognitive frame to analyze the authoritative English versions of legislative texts in Hong Kong,so as to seek the cognitive factors in the construction of legislative texts.It is hoped that this research can offer inspiration to the researches on English legislative texts. |
