Jin Nong and Zheng Fu are representative calligraphers in the Qing dynasty, and both of them have formed their own unique writing style from epigraphy, however, there are differences and similarities between their own unique writing style.Jin nong visited all kinds of stone for learning and didn't follow the popular tradition at that time.In the end,he developed his own way to write, which included three special methods named the “paint”,“ the eight points for thirst pen”,and the combination of the regular script, running script, and the clerical script.Zheng Fu spent his whole life specialized in official script. He didn't stick to the moral standard and formed his special method that combined the cursive script and clerical script. In order to make a contrastive analysis of Jin and Zheng, this thesis firstly summarizes the backdrop of their times and the background of the development of calligraphic practice and theory, and afterwards,it concludes their life experiences and delves into the beginning giving rise to their calligraphic characteristics, which are to be underscored through contrast of the similarities and differences of them. Finally, inspirations for current calligraphy learning triggered by them will be concluded at the end of this thesis.
