The development of internet information technology provides an opportunity and platform of development for the Flipped Classroom.The Flipped Classroom is a new teaching model constructed by the flipped of knowledge imparting and internalization of knowledge,and the flipped of role orientation of teachers and students in traditional teaching,and the replanning of class time under the environment of the education informationization.This teaching model has a fundamental influence on the students' learning style and environment.This research analyzed the theory and the research status of the Flipped Classroom.The author found that scholars have made a full study of the theory and practice of the Flipped classroom,the advantages of the Flipped Classroom,how to optimize the Flipped Classroom.With the reference of successful teaching cases,the author attempted to apply the Flipped Classroom Teaching Model in college English teaching of non-English major of Minority University.Two questions are studied:1.Can the Flipped Classroom improve the interest of non-English majors in learning English? 2.Can the Flipped Classroom improve the English scores of non-English majors?According to the two questions,the author designed an experiment of empirical study of the Flipped Classroom teaching in college English teaching of non-English majors in Northwest Minzu University,the research subjects were students from two classes.The textbook is the Integrated Coursebook of Experiencing English.The Flipped Classroom Teaching Model was adopted in the experimental class.Before class,students mainly studied the content of video,audio and the basic knowledge to cultivate students' self-learning ability;in class,teacher helped students to solve the problems in learning by the means of discussion and communications,and asked students to do some exercises to test the learning effect;after class,Students reviewed and consolidated the content before and in class,and finished the task arranged by teacher.The traditional teaching model was adopted in the controlled class.After a semester of empirical study,the author analyzed the data of pretest and post-test as well as the questionnaire by SPSS 16.0.The author found the average score of the experimental class students was more than 5.3 points higher than the controlled class,and the interest score of the experimental class students was more than 0.46 points higher than the controlled class,which showed that the application of the Flipped Classroom in college English teaching is more facilitate to students' English learning than traditional teaching model.In addition,the author found some problems in Flipped Classroom Teaching Model and put forward some feasible suggestions,which provides a reference for the application of the Flipped Classroom Teaching Model in English teaching in the future.
