On The E-C Translation Of Children's Literature The Whizz Pop Chocolate Shop From The Perspective Of Reception Aesthetics

Children's literature is a significant part of literary creation of mankind.By reading literary works,children are able to develop preliminary understandings of literary world,better tastes of art and their worldviews.Because of its unique genre and special target readers,the translation practice of children's literature is quite different from other forms,requiring translators to pay special attention to its particularity.Although literary translation in China has made great progress,translators and researchers pay little attention to the translation of children's literature.The development of translation theory and its practice is in an unbalanced state.Therefore,it's quite necessary to make a thorough study and exploration on the corresponding translation theories.This matter admits of no delay.This thesis is made from the perspective of the Aesthetic Theory of Reception,which is reader-centered,taking readers' expectations into consideration and filling the vacancy of meaning in the text.The Whizz Pop Chocolate Shop(2014)is chosen for its strong timeliness among many current classics.The author of the thesis takes Chapter 7 to Chapter 10 of this work as an example to go into translation and analyze the corresponding translated texts.This thesis aims to explore the proper translation strategies and provide a broader perspective for the study of translation for children's literature.This thesis combines Aesthetic Theory of Reception and the writer's own translation version.From lexical,syntactic and rhetorical levels,the feasibility of this theory's application is analyzed and then corresponding translation strategies of children's literature are put forward.The final conclusion is that in order to attract readers' attention,at the lexical level,it is necessary to select colloquial words and vivid expressions such as reduplicated words,which conform to the cognitive structure of children;In order to make translation easily understood by children,at the syntactic level,it is necessary to fill the vacancy of meaning in the text first,and then to simplify complex structures through conjunctions,parallel structures,etc;In order to encourage children's imagination and arouse their interest in reading,at the rhetorical level,it is necessary to visualize the translation text with the employment of metaphor,personification,onomatopoeia,etc.This thesis aims to summarize proper translation strategies and provide some help and inspiration for the future translation of children's literature through the study of translation theories and practice.
