This thesis is a translation report of Patent Agreement.This Patent Agreement is made by a foreign company and a Chinese mobile software Ltd.regarding some patents and patent application.This thesis analyzes the difficulties encountered during the translation,as well as its translation methods and skills under the guidance of Text Typology Translation Theory.Reiss considered that the text can be categorized into three types: informative,expressive and appellative according to the main function of the text.The language of Informative Type Text features distinct gradations and perspicuous and its emphasis represents the content of the text.This Patent Agreement's major expression comes with the information and facts;its language features strong logic and professional terms with standardized form,which belongs to Informative Type Text.The target text shall be kept with the source language in semantic equivalence,and try to deliver the same concepts and information of the original text as far as possible during the translation.The difficulties and its solutions in this translation are mainly reflected in two aspects: firstly,legal terminology translation.I,during the legal terminology translation,used bilingual dictionary of the law,then combined the context of situation in the text and check on the credible website to confirm the final translation.Secondly,long and difficult sentences translation.The legal text boasts many long sentences with complex syntactic structure.I must analyze the structure of the original text at first,and translate part of the syntactic structure,then adjust constituent order and organize language.
