Vocabulary teaching in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language(TCSL)is the key for learners to acquire Chinese better and faster,Based on the comprehensive textbooks of the first to fourth volumes of the New Practical Chinese Textbook(2nd Edition)and the revised edition of Chinese Level Vocabulary and Chinese Character Grade Outline(2001),this paper makes use of the data analysis.This paper makes an investigation and statistics on the multi-category words by means of contrastive statistics,and discusses the present situation,classification,times of repetition,tagging of parts of speech,teaching suggestions and so on.In this paper,a total of 76 multi-category words are counted and classified into 8 categories and 16 categories by quantitative analysis in the first one to four volumes of comprehensive textbooks in the pre-intermediate stage of New Practical Chinese Textbook(the 2nd Edition).Among these words,the word of Grade A occupies the absolute predominance,the phenomenon of multi-category words of nouns,verbs and adjectives is more common,and the number of the words of verb and noun is the most.Then,in view of these words,this paper counts the repetition times of each part of speech of the multi-category word,summarizes the characteristics of its repetition,and gives some suggestions on the problem of its repetition.Based on the Outline and the Modern Chinese Dictionary(the 7th edition),this paper discusses the tagging of the concomitant words in detail,and finds out some problems.Then this paper puts forward that the Outline and the Dictionary should be referred for the part-of-speech tagging.And it would be better to follow the advice of the text,etc.For teaching Chinese as a foreign language,this paper analyzes the current situation of teachers'teaching and learners' learning in the teaching of multi-category words,such as the single teaching method,the influence of learners' mother tongue and the learning strategies of avoidance.All of this factors hinder the teaching of multi-category words.In order to solve these problems,this paper takes New Practical Chinese Textbook as an example,and puts forward that the teaching and acquisition of multi-category words should be promoted by flexible use of the teaching method of explanation,the combination of audio-visual and speaking,and the method of practice and consolidation.
