A Project Report On The E-C Translation Of Museum International | | Posted on:2019-05-19 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:M Y Zhu | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2405330548977178 | Subject:English translation | | Abstract/Summary: | | | Throughout history,museology as a scie,nce,just like a museum itself as a cultural form that originates abroad,has been profoundly influenced by contemporary foreign museum culture during the process of its establishment and development in China.Therefore,the translation and introduction of publications and latest trend of museology are of vital importance.The introduction of the Chinese version of Museum International is one example.The related translation projects will contribute to fueling cultural communication and disciplinary development.Under the introduction and guidance of the supervisor,the author accomplished the translation work of several articles selected form the English journal Museum International,based on which the report took shape.The Skopos theory was established by German translation theorist Katharina Reiss and her student Hans Vermeer.Guided by the Skopos theory,the author attempted to follow the intention of original writer and embark from the purpose of translation,analyzing the target text from the perspectives of both readers and translators.This report probes into the specific issues encountered in the translation process of interdisciplinary texts like the translation of technical terms,long and complicated sentences and writing style,and provides solutions like referring to authoritative references,selectively adopting literal or liberal translation etc.The author attempted to put forward her thinking and solutions for the translation difficulties and furtherly summarize the regularity which may serve as a reference and example for parallel academic translation projects and studies. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Museum International, Skopos theory, interdisciplinary text, academic translation, solutions | | Related items |
