A Report On C-E Translation Of GAC FCA Specialized Management Policy

This is a translation practice report based on the C-E translation of Sino-foreign joint venture's management policy texts,the materials of which are selected from the translation project done during the internship of the translator in Guangqi Auto&Fac Auto CO,LTD.(GAC FCA),specifically named GAC FCA Specialized Management Policy.Since the key to success for joint venture enterprises is good communication,summarizing and generalizing the translation skills and rules of this kind of text,through translation practices,have practically guiding significance to promote the management communication between Chinese leaders and foreign leaders of joint ventures enterprises.This translation practice report is based on two texts in 10,000 words:Training Management Policy and Task Force Management Policy.The Source Language Text(SLT)is an informative text,and the language in the SLT is objective,precise,formal and concise.Therefore,the most difficult problem for the translator during translation process is how to code the target language text(TLT)to show the features of the source language text and make the target language text to be understood by target readers.Eventually,the translator adopts the Skopos Theory to guide the translation practice and achieve the expected effects.The report firstly introduces the task;secondly it describes the translation process in detail;finally it analyzes the cases and summarizes the rules of management policy texts and difficults and enlightenments in C-E translation.According to research results on similar texts from former translators,in combination with the features of the texts and this translation practice,the report demonstrates that the translator follows the guidance of the three rules of Skopos Theory,and then with consideration of the features of the SLT,the translator translates non-subject sentences,parallel phrases,pre-modifiers,and multiple modifying clauses with amplification method,omission method,hysteron proteron method and so on,which can make the TLT more cohesive,natural and acceptable.
