A Report On Translation Of Informative Text Under Skopos Theory

Informative text is characterized by certain authenticity,accuracy,normativeness and communication,aiming to convey true content to readers,and to achieve certain communicative intention.Therefore,the translation of informative text should be loyal to original text by retaining these features.This report,taking Skopos theory of Vermeer as guidance,discusses how to translate informative text on eating disorders accurately.The transfer between English and Chinese does not mean to achieve total equivalence between source text and target text.Some problems that exist in words,sentences and paragraphs cause difficulties to the translator in reconciling correspondence between between form and content.Taking into consideration the problems met in the translation of informative text,this paper explores what kind of translation strategies and methods should be adopted in translation so as to achieve higher equivalence.
