Translation Strategies (E-C) Of Terminology In Est From The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence Theory

Natural and closest equivalence and emphasis on readers' reaction are the core ideas of the functional equivalence translation theory proposed by Nida.During translation of scientific and technical material,the terminology translation should be put on the first priority.Based on translation of Refrigeration Systems and Applications(chapter three)from English to Chinese,in this translation report,the terminology in EST are analyzed and four translation methods are proposed accordingly from the perspective of functional equivalence theory,including literal translation,free translation,literal and free translation,transliteration.These methods are taken to realize functional equivalence at the upmost degree,so that the target-text readers can appreciate the content and ideas in the same way with the source-text readers.Through this translation practice report,the author hopes to be able to discuss the translation strategies of refrigeration terminology in EST,in order to provide certain reference for the translation research of refrigeration terminology in China and to let the personnel in China registration section better master the latest development of refrigeration field in foreign countries and learn from other countries.
