| As an important part of the media industry,fashion magazines meet people’s growing spiritual and cultural needs while developing themselves.China has not yet formed its own unique style and system in fashion magazines,mostly imitating European,American and Japanese fashion magazines.In recent years,American VOGUE magazine and Japanese mina magazine have entered China one after another,and the Chinese translation version has been issued simultaneously in China,and there has been a certain readership in China.In terms of dress style,Japanese simplicity and personality blending style are more easily accepted by young Chinese than in Europe and the United States,which only pay attention to luxury brand fashion.Now it’s big in magazine translation.Most of them are experiential,not systematic,and there is no specific translation strategy in fashion magazine translation.The author intends to explore and study the translation strategies of fashion magazines through the translation of fashion magazines.The translation selected in this paper is the clothing section of the Japanese fashion,magazine mina.The magazine is a special propaganda text with a specific readership,mainly composed of title sentences,pictures and illustrative texts.Words and expressions are often used in new language,foreign language,catchword,etc.Their sentences are bright,concise,informal,and the sense of language should be stylish and persuasive,in order to attract readers and arouse their interest in reading and desire to buy.According to the text particularity of the source language and the target language,the author chooses the theory of “variant translation” as the theoretical basis of this practical report,and regards “variation” as the principle of translation throughout.This paper divides the key point of translation into three sections: word translation,title sentence translation and picture text translation.The translation of words mainly adopts the principle of “adaptation” of “variable translation theory”,and flexibly chooses the target words suitable for this kind of special text to reflect the connotation of the source language.The title sentence is the soul of the fashion magazine and belongs to the category of advertising language.The translation problem of heading sentence and information missing title sentence is not corresponding.Photo description discourse belongs to magazine picture text,which is the unique text form of fashion magazine.In translation,it is mainly used in the translation of the “variable translation theory”.“compiling”,“parallel translation” and “modifying translation” specifically solve the translation problems of tedious discourses,discourses with similar sentences and non-substantial information texts.This article which does the first translation of Japanese fashion magazine texts,and summarizes the problems and deficiencies in translation,provides a reference for the translation of such texts in the future.In this paper,the author discusses how to guide the translation of fashion magazine texts by using the theory of changing translation,and to apply six kinds of alternative ways to carry out translation practice activities in the theory of changing translation: add,subtract,edit,shrink,and change.It provides material for the practical application of variable translation theory. |
